Red Ribbon Week

It was Red Ribbon Week at school. In order to help the kids to remember to "Just Say No" they had a different theme each day. Monday, wear red. Tuesday, wear school colors= blue. Wednesday, crazy scock day. John wore my halloween scocks.

Thursday, silly hat day. I made him a silly halloween trick or treating hat. It was a big hit!

Friday, mixed up day. He wore his shirt backwards. Two different shoes.
And one scock upsidedown.

Trick or Treat

We had a lot of fun this Halloween! It started with lunch at Sweet Tomatoes for the kids that are not in school. Kids in costume ate for free! The moms had a great time eating and talking. The kids kept themselves entertained and kept going back for more ice cream!
Even, Aliyah, Alison, Ella, Luke
Is Luke not the cutest pirate or what?
Then we went to Heidi Watts' photo studio to have pictures taken. Proceeds were donated to Parrot Creek Child and Family Services. The kids loved having their pictures taken! I will post more when I get them. But here is a small sample!

Pumpkin Carving

Time to carve the pumpkins! Always a good time!

"mom, take a picture of me kissing my pumpkin!"

All done and so proud!

"mom, take a picture of me licking my pumpkin"

Alison decided to paint her pumpkin this year and add things to it.
Deep in concentration.

Halloween Carnival

Tonight was the Halloween Carnival at the church. The youth put on a carnival every year for the Primary kids. John and Alison had a wonderful time. Alison really loved the candy bar walk. John really loved the spooky room where you put your hand in a box to feel "creepy" things. John even got his face painted! All along he has said that he was going to be a young Indiana Jones, before he had facial hair. He was not to sure about letting me put "makeup" on him. For some reason he decided last night to let the pretty girl at the face painting booth give him facial hair! I wonder what changed his mind!? Now, I am allowed to give him facial hair for Halloween night. Thank heaven for pretty girls!

Alison did not really want to do it after all. She liked watching John and I.

Halloween Fun at McDonalds

The local McDonald's had a special Halloween party. Happy Meals were on sale and there was free BINGO! We had a blast playing BINGO. There was also a costume contest. Every child in costume received a raffle ticket. There were many prizes available. After calling BINGO two times incorrectly, I was a little hesitant when they called one of our tickets. The employee verified that in fact we had won this time! We won two extra value meal coupons! We are excited to go back and use them.

That pose Alison is doing next to the tree, is a common stance for her! It just cracks us up!

Girls Day Out

Alison told me this morning that she wanted to have girls day. She wanted to come with me to Costco instead of going to her friend's house for a play date. I of course could not say no. It was opening day of the much anticipated High School Musical 3.

So after lunch at Taco Bell, we headed to the theater to see the show. I give it 2 thumbs up! We loved it! It was so fun to sit next to my little girl and see the joy in her eyes as she watched the movie. Of course she could not sit still. None of us could with the great music and dancing, you just wanted to stand up and dance!

A few times during the movie I found myself wiping tears off my cheeks. What!? I am crying during HSM3?! No, I am not pregnant. They just did a really good job with capturing the emotions of change, uncertainty, friendship and love. I also found myself thinking off to the future when my own kids will graduate from High School and leave home. Yea! I mean, sob, tear, wipe my eye. No really, I looked at my little girl willingly sitting next to me and thought I wish this could last forever.

As a side note, I have found out that I am not the only mom to cry during the movie.

Fashion Model or...

Artist? You be the judge. The poll is now open.

Alison in her outfit of choice. It is all pink so it matches. And of course those are purple sparkle boots, our version of Hanna Montana shoes. Everyone knows that pink and purple go together!

He Loves Me!

What a pleasant surprise to open the front door and have a package waiting for me. What an even greater surprise to open it and find these! Thank you Mark! I love you too and am so happy we are together. You are a great support to me and father to our children.
